Profesores en Europa 2016-17
Start date: Oct 24, 2016, End date: Oct 23, 2017 PROJECT  FINISHED

The IES "Carmen and Severo Ochoa" beneficiary of the project, is a secondary school of public ownership, under the Consejería de Educación, Cultura y Deportes of the Principality of Asturias. It is located in the Asturian town of Luarca, in a rural context. It has about 480 students and 60 teachers. This includes ESO, Baccalaureate, Administrative Management Vocational Education, Electrical and Control Installation Vocational Education, Electromechanical Vehicle Vocational Education. The project named, Teachers in Europe 2016-17, seeks to achieve the following objectives:a) Meet new teaching methodologies.b) Improve the language skills of teachers.c) Efficiently incorporate the teaching of foreign languages in Vocational Education.d) Meet the educational systems of other countries.e) Breaking the isolation of our Centre and foster positive attitudes towards other European countries and cultures. This project will take place with two Vocational Education teachers mobilities, which held "job shadowing" or observation period of two partners from different countries. One of the mobilities will be in an Italian partner and the other in a Greek partner, both secondary schools, with a similar structure than our Institution and a similar educational offer, which covers several stages and includes, of course, vocational training courses. The participants, teachers who teach in the Vocational Education of the beneficiary partner, will be selected by public call, scaling and selection. The entire project will be coordinated and supervised by the coordinator, with the assistance of the management team and the necessary collaboration of teachers. The Coordinator will support the involved teachers in their logistics, documents and implementation of mobility. The Coordinator will check the performing of mobility. As a result of the project, the participating teachers will acquire knowledge and experience in the use of other languages, since they have to communicate with colleagues from other countries. In addition, they will improve their knowledge of ICT, which are often used as educational tools. They will also share their experiences on the job, so they will be able to improve their methodological skills. They will meet other approaches to teaching and the learning visits to partner institutions will exchange their views on how education works in different countries and share ideas in this regard. Finally, the established contacts with teachers from partner schools will continue to share experiences, moreover the project is finished. As for the results for the participating centres, these will be enriched by the continuous cultural exchange, where they will be immersed, which will strengthen and enhance learning in the classroom. There will be a more fluid exchange of information and better cooperation among teachers, not only between members of the same department, but also with teachers from other departments. We are convinced that academic and extracurricular initiatives from the participating schools will have a great impact on cities and regions of each member of the project. It is expected that the activities and visits of teachers acquire resonance at local and regional level, in press, radio and television, which will extend the project's impact even further. The tasks of teachers will complete the development of their competence in foreign languages and methodological skills, autonomy to innovate in the classroom and their creative skills. As a result, it is expected that these improvements will lead to better results in national and international external testing (diagnostic evaluations and tests Pisa). The benefits we hope to achieve,in the long-term, with this project are:a) Expand our educational centre to the world in general and Europe in particular.b) substantially improve the training of our teachers.c) Develop positive attitudes towards mobility, not only between our teachers but also among our students.d) To help improve teaching practice every day and transmit this spirit of continuous improvement to the environment of our Centre.
