Start date: Sep 1, 2016, End date: Aug 31, 2017 PROJECT  FINISHED

Scoala Gimnaziala Nr. 10 from Giurgiu, Romania puts forward the project "Teacher for the school of the future", in order to provide 16 teachers with the chance to be trained in using new computerized technologies during teaching, learning and evaluating the following subjects: French, English, Spanish, Science (Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics), Geography, History, Physical Education, Religion, Computer Science, as well as adapting resources and strategies in teaching different disciplines of the core and school curriculum. Our school aims, as a strategic objective, to train and further develop teachers in the process of integrating new technologies within teaching. Upon the analysis of needs conducted at learning unit-level, increasing our teacher's skillset regarding the use of modern information technologies within their activities of teaching, learning and evaluating turned out to be a priority for the institution. This will improve our educational process and our educational act.The "Teacher for the school of the future" project aims to train teachers in using ICT within their activity. The project scopes are:- stimulating the teachers' interest for innovation and creativity;- developing new ICT competences;-improving teachers' ability to integrate new technology (laptop, interactive whiteboard, tablet, smart-phone, smart-board) into lessons, regardless of the subject;- developing teamwork methods and implementing new educational techniques, for a school of the future. The participants are employees of the institution, teachers wishing to carry out training courses in order to develop specific skills and to improve their teaching technique using ICT discipline, language and practical skills. They will participate in intercultural teaching methods exchanges with other teachers, upon visiting their schools.Although they are working with students having a disadvantaged social and cultural background, all teachers participating in the project have achieved very good results in their past teaching activity, proving they are not only open to learning and applying innovative methods and strategies, but also willing to join the information society of the future. The activities will be comprised of five stages: - Preparatory activities, - Activities carried out upon obtaining a grant before the student mobility activities, - Activities over the course of training and post-mobility, - Mobility activities and promotion of what we have learned throughout our teaching career,- Professional meetings. The experience and skills gained by our participant teachers over the three training courses will have an important impact on their professional and personal development, but said impact will mostly reflect upon the attendants of their school and also on their local, regional and national community. The acquired skills will help them develop a modernized and adequate teaching approach, new methods and procedures of teaching-learning within European educational standards and will also improve their students' level of preparation, reflecting on their learning results, thus having a positive impact on the students' personal and professional development. This project will give us the chance to achieve educational and interdisciplinary partnerships, further developing our school's transnational activities. Within the local and regional community, our institution will reinforce the European school's position and will set an example for other educational institutions to follow. The teaching strategies used will be adapted to our pupils' level of understanding, thus making lessons more attractive and closer to real life by combining lessons and teaching activities with the newly aquired innovative methods and modern information techniques. This will, in return, contribute to a better understanding of the basic concepts being taught, as well as to our future interdisciplinary approach, facilitating student-teacher collaboration and giving pupils the opportunity to experience the taught theoretical concepts within real-life situations. Each participant's self-knowledge development will lay the foundation for applying new projects and continuous education.Considering the evolution and dynamics of the educational system at European level, the Romanian system of teaching-learning-evaluation needs to be raised to European standards.
