This project is a continuation of an already implemented youth meeting under the same topic in 2013. In 2014, forty boys and eight leaders of four European countries - Bulgaria, Poland, Spain and Latvia take part in the development and implementation of a youth project of tolerance and justice among the audience at sporting events. The project participants are united round the theme of sport, equality, youth participation. Groups will be formed among 15 to 18 years old young people, actively involved in various sports.
The global objective is to acquaint the participants with the opportunities and the role of sport in the development of social relationships and the social construction of a tolerant civil society in the united Europe- a society without aggression and violence.
By methods of non-formal education, sports and promoting healthy lifestyles, we will try to combine the interests of the participants by appropriately selected methods, corresponding to project targets. The preliminary activities focus on the choice of the participants in groups and their online acquaintance, preparation of presentations of the organizations, developing materials needed for the implementation of the youth meeting, preparation of a project dictionary, an essay contest, collecting of photographs. In the preliminary work, we will use the research methods of studying the social environment through surveys and summary of results, a discussion and comparative analysis. In preparing presentations for cultural and natural heritage and the participation of four countries in the sport, the methods of collection and selection of information, learning, research and presenting the past and present of the sport in the form of presentations will be used.
During the youth exchanges we will be using the following working methods: Working in mixed groups made up of participants from each country to communicate with each other by carrying out planned research and observations; Discussion and debate about the causes of aggression among athletes and fans: The development of artistic creative skills of young people by creating cards with messages against aggression and violence, making poster boards, presentation of national folklore; Practicing physical outdoor activities by participation in provided sports events - trekking in the mountains, and fun simulation games, conducting workshops "Athletes and fans."
Final products of the project: Developed presentations; "Glossary with key terms of the project in English, Bulgarian, Polish, Spanish and Latvian languages; Photographs, postcards with messages, posters and exhibitions in the four regions; A brochure and Newsletters; A presentation for the youth meeting in Bulgaria, CD and film, articles and media appearances, press conferences; Conducted and summarized interviews for evaluation and monitoring.
The methods described herein, used both in Comprehensive schools in Europe and in the field of non-formal education, will put young people in a position of active observers, researchers and practitioners. This project will focus on the discussion, summarizing and analyzing the results, and the development of skills for debate on an issue and the race as a fair game. In this way young people will increase their knowledge and skills to form an active European citizenship and personal responsibility, they will also build up a sense of intolerance to violations of civil rights and aggression. We will stimulate the artistic pursuits and opportunities for personal expression by organizing an intercultural evening, school of dances and developing posters, presentation of essays and poster boards. The participants will increase their competence in English, will be introduced to other European languages will improve their teamwork.
To promote the project, we will use the mass media, as a media group of young people will hold a press conference in the last days of the youth exchanges in Sliven. This group will also write an article for local newspapers and take part in radio and television programs, before starting the project and after the completion of the exchange. During the exchange mixed groups of young people from the four countries will be interviewed in local media.
After finalizing the project, our partner organizations will have well-prepared and trained youth groups who will be able to develop similar projects with other partners. They will also have the ability to assist in the implementation of extracurricular school forms and non-formal education activities based on the problems of manifestations of aggression, discrimination, racism and xenophobia, overcoming them through the methods of the sport, solving conflict problems and organizing sports events.
