The objectives of the project are: ? 3 teachers will be trained in language and methodology to embed the target language into School ? we would like to develop our knowledge and understanding of French traditions and customs to ensure an authentic experience for our pupils and to foster positive attitudes towards developing global citizenship in particular with an awareness of the French Education System compared to the Scottish Education System. ? we would like to improve the competence and confidence in presenting French to our pupils at all levels. Following the Local Authority Language policy we will be teaching from first year of Primary school in Scotland ? introducing the 4 skills (talking, listening, reading, writing in our school) ? follow EU policy of introducing languages from a younger age ? inclusion in the School Development Plan ?the staff development needs will be addressed through the planned activities ? improve staff competence in terms of language knowledge and understanding ? increase cultural awareness for all shareholders ? development of new teaching practices eg. Immersion techniques ? build cultural links ? build up language competence / cultural awareness in pupils and parents ? discover new ICT tool for teaching of languages ? create a network with other schools in UK and abroad to exchange good practice ? improve conversational skills in language ? find new techniques to embed French (language) into life of school from infant to upper school ? increase confidence of staff within school ? increase staff motivation ? raise parents awareness by pass on resources to them, presenting country visited to parents, pupils and staff (after school, during school etc.) ? write blog on trip to France on school website for all internet users to observe ? raise awareness of EU when we have developed our communicating classrooms programmes and E-twinning
