Pride and prejudice
Start date: May 1, 2016, End date: Oct 31, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

The name of our TC we borrow from famoust Jane Austen novel »Pride and Prejudice »,whic will bring together 26 participants, including training team, coming from 7 different European countries: Croatia, Cyprus, Poland, Romania, Greece, Slovenia and Turkey. And will take place in Ruše /Slovenija from 5.th -13 of Septembre 2016The training course will address the topics of stereotypes and prejudices, along with other negative social issues, particularly focusing on the North vs. South Europe issue. We have witnessed a very negative media and political discourse Europe-wide regarding these issues since the beginning of the financial crises, and, as well, the rise of very radical political options throughout European Union. That undermines the very basic principals of European Union, such as equality in diversity, promotion of European citizenship and similar. This being the main theme of our project reflects the needs of multiple European societies since all of them, due to different reasons, face this social phenomena of imaginary division between European countries. The aim of »Pride and Prejudice », TC is to develop among participants a greater intercultural awareness, and provide the tools necessary to promote intercultural dialogue within their community, which will strengthen common European values such as respect for diversity, equality, solidarity, openness, understanding and liberty for combating stereotypes, prejudice, discrimination, xenophobia, hate speech and hate motivated violence. Through using non formal learning methods such as workshops, discussions, simulation games and social campaign techniques it will provide to participants the competencies, skills and knowledge about stereotypes, prejudice, anti discrimination, racism and xenophobia in order for them to take actions as multipliers for diminishing those negative social phenomena and creating a greater social and community involvement in the framework of Erasmus+ Programme. The implementation of this project will result in higher level of intercultural awareness and the importance of intercultural dialogue in the communities involved. This will lead to greater effort in developing and implementing long term policies and strategies, so we could all engage in making an European society. So insted of »Pride and Prejudicee we must insist on ''United in diversity'' EU' policy and accepted and respected it.
