Prezent si viitor in scoala mea: Studiu-Educatie-Noutate-Succes ( S.E.N.S.)
Start date: Sep 1, 2014, End date: Aug 31, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

The project Present and Future in My School: Study-Education–Novelty–Success (S.E.N.S.) of “Sf.Vineri” Secondary School, Ploiesti had set as main objective–increasing our students’ learning level by using new technologies, efficient methods and teaching strategies in accordance with European standards. The project was born in 2014, after drawing a comparative study between the I semester of 2013-2014 asnd 2012-2013 school year.In addition to this, we felt an increasing need to keep pace with the rapid changes of our society, with the dynamics of school population, as well as with the level of technological advances. We thus came to the conclusion that, with regard to certain indicators where we hadn’t recorded any problems throughout the past school years, there were certain fluctuations which certainly represented a threat to the future educational process. We were worried about the increase in students’ absenteeism, especially for that of primary school students as well as the increase in grades lower than 9 in school conduct and grades between 5 and 7 for school performance indicators. At the end of the project, the educational process has been addressed to from new perspectives, by adopting and adapting new teaching strategies of other educational systems to our school needs as a result of our teachers’ participation in the training courses.Their newly acquired knowledge has led to:a decrease in the number of students’ absences (79% out of the total number were for medical reasons), a reduction in the number of students with grades lower than 9 in school conduct(from 6 to 3 students in 2016), increase in school performance (72% of primary school students got very good assessments,56% of lower secondary school students managed to get grades of 9-10 and 5% of students having annual school grades of 5-7 showed an improvement in their school report), improvement of results in school competitions (1716 versus 1529 prizes in the previous year, showing an increase of 187 awards in our school, thus surpassing the 10% percentage set in the application form). The products made by all participants taking part in mobilities have increased not only the quality of education but also the equipment level of our school, having a positive impact on the participating teachers, as well as on the education beneficiaries:students, parents and local community on a long term. The access to the educational products on the European Platform as well as the exchange of ideas with our colleagues from other European schools has represented an opportunity to learn and adopt new approaches. The total number of the participants in the project from our school was represented by 16 teachers, specialised in different school subjects. They were all excellent team-workers:9 teachers had experience in taking part in European projects, while 7 teachers applied for an European program for the first time.In order to achieve a transdisciplinary and cross-curricular approach, the participants were grouped in 8 flows made of two-teacher teams,4 mixed flows made of both primary and secondary school teachers and 4 flows made of secondary school teachers. By participating in mobilities within Erasmus+ Programme, teachers have developed their key competences,as they have put into practice everything they learnt during their training stages. As a result, students have also become beneficiaries, as their competences have equally improved.By means of this first-hand experience and the teachers’ educational products our school has improved the quality of its education, satisfied students’ need for knowledge, boosted their motivation and developed the interpersonal relationships as well as class management. The long term impact has occurred both on the institutional level (by developing partnerships, intercultural dialogue, supporting creativity and motivation of teaching and the European dimension of education), and on the professional one (for each teacher involved).Last, but not least, all the other participants in the educational process have benefitted from our school participation in the project. In this period of time, we also carried out a project called "Maths Is Everywhere" (K.A.2), in which participating teachers shared their experience gained through training in the project SENS. Following the experience gained, four teachers of the school got involved in the drafting of the project called "Crossing Borders" which has been approved and will be conducted during 2016-2019, Erasmus+ Programme, K.A.2. A special impact for our school at the end of this project was regaining the Certificate of European School for the second time in June 2016 as recognition for outstanding performances in European cooperation activities, contributions to promoting and developing the European dimension in education, as well as the support and promotion of education in the spirit of knowledge and values.
