Start date: May 1, 2016, End date: Mar 31, 2017 PROJECT  FINISHED

This project of structured dialogue is coordinated by the Fédération Régionale des MFR de Midi-Pyrénées. The partners are MFR Terrou, MFR Donneville, MFR Sud Agromat, MFR Mane, Union Nationale des MFR, Conseil Régional de Midi-Pyrénées Languedoc Roussillon with the active participation of the Association Arc-en-Ciel. This project is carried out within the framework of the 5th working cycle of the structured dialogue: "Enabling young people to engage in a diverse, connected and inclusive Europe-Ready for life, Ready for Society" and within the framework of the MFR mouvement theme: Education aux mondes et aux autres.Young people do not embrace the traditional forms of debates or involvement in public life. Nevertheless, they promote ideas and concrete propositions and are willing to take part in building an inclusive society. This project aims at allowing them to address the elected local officials and start debating with them so that, together, they can invent tomorrow's local youth policy. This will happen during a youth forum.Four groups of 15 young people aged 14 to 20 and registered at the MFRs will prepare the youth forum in theatre workshops thanks to the association Arc-en-Ciel. During the workshops, the young people will be asked to play scenes of everyday life situations related to the youth policies implemented in their local area. From factual scenes, the young people will gradually question more general problems related to their place in society, professional and social integration, involvement... The elected local officials will also be asked to take part in a theatre workshop in order to play scenes related to their vision of the implementation of local youth policies and their relations with the local youth. On june 16th and 17th, the youth forum will take place: young people and elected local officials will show their selected scenes on youth integration and involvement and will try and find alternative solutions to the difficulties shown. Together, they will list a series of propositions to implement in order to improve the situation. The young people will take part in the Provox Festival in Paris on july 1, 2 and 3d. They will also present their work and the propositions during the opening of the First University of Rural Territories in Figeac on July 6th. The last workshop will happen on november 15th and will allow every participant to evaluate the implementation of the propositions and the results of the project. The expected impact of the project are diverse and numerous and will be evaluated as the project progresses. Young people will have developped skills in four of the key competences described in the framework. They will have started a collaborative work with elected local officials in order to take an active part in the implementation of a youth policy that is based on local realities. Young people and elected local officials will have overcome the traditional divide between them and will offer a new form of political participation to public life and a new way of getting involved in order to improve integration in society.
