Preparing for the 21st century educational needs

With this project and participating to “Teacher Training Course on Drama in Education – Holistic Approach to Teaching with Drama Techniques” in Lovran from 17th to 26th of August 2015 we anticipate enchasing our stuff with the skills and techiques to adapt the new methods to their specific needs and requirements of the curriculum.To achieve this we need staff which is capable of facilitating and managing interdisciplinary, cross-subject teaching and planning, staff which is ready to engage in continuous teamwork and innovation. Moreover, we would like to bridge the gap between already existing methods like project based work in the teaching of different traditional school subjects and ways to develop 21st Century Skills and Key Competences and find ways to link them to our existing practice.Our stuff member participating in the project together with our other teachers will develop a school action plan focused on integrating the best practices from the project into the school curriculum across subjects and across school years.Moreover examples of good practice will be documented and published either in our website as well as on public Twinspace platform and course provider's website(s) created especially for this purpose as to be used by everyone interested as an online bank of Open Educational Resources.Our project objectives are:- Combating failure in education- Implementing innovative methods which would enable the school to equip the learners with knowledge and skills for their future life, not only for their workplace, but also for their personal growth, wellbeing and active participation in society.- Understanding how drama and theatre methods and techniques can be incorporated into lessons.- Enhancing professional skills of the staff through acquisition of versatile drama conventions and developing the ability to structure them individually and in collaboration within the work group in order to reach envisaged learning outcomes.- Developing communication, collaboration, presentation, problem solving, and negotiation, critical and creative thinking skills.- Improving the ability to use innovative and student-centered pedagogical approaches.- Creating a safer and friendlier environment for practicing human rights and values in which real learning is more likely to take place.- Facilitating and managing interdisciplinary, cross-subject teaching and planning.- Gradually organizing more and more activities based in a holistic approach to education in which the work groups of teachers will organize interactive learning environments.- Documenting, publishing and sharing examples of good practice for further reuse, adaptations and improvement.- Preparing for future strategic partnership projects.
