Преодоляване на пропастта между образованието и заетостта - овладяване на професионална компетентност за управление на проекти
Start date: Aug 1, 2014, End date: Nov 13, 2015 PROJECT  FINISHED

The project "Bridging the Gap between Education and Employment - Developing Professional Competences for Project Management" is a one year EVS initiative engaging a selected volunteer, PortaBG, and Wings of Hope. The EVS project will be conducted in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina. The selected volunteer, sending and receiving organisations know each other well and work as an effective team, propelled by the strong desire to conduct this EVS project. As the theme suggests, this project aims to bridge the gap between education and employment by providing an opportunity for the volunteer to hone her professional competences in the field of project management in post-conflict societies such as Bosnia and Herzegovina. The selected volunteer is: ( 1 ) А Bulgarian citizen with a strong Bulgarian, as well as Balkan and European identity; ( 2 ) A 25 year old woman; ( 3 ) A recent Master's degree graduate with a regional specialisation in the Western Balkans and a thematic specialisation in post-conflict development and human rights; ( 4 ) In the summer of 2013, she met the whole team of the hosting organisation and expressed her strong enthusiasm to become and EVS volunteer at Wings of Hope, where she could put her academic knowledge into valuable use, while developing professional competences and employability skills. The key aims of this project are threefold: ( 1 ) To encourage youth leadership and active citizenship; ( 2 ) To encourage the understanding of socio-economic post-conflict development and in this context - the needs of vulnerable groups (e.g. youth, women, minorities, members of the LGBT community); ( 3 ) To develop skills for all stages of the project management cycle (scientific research, monitoring, concept development, funding application, project activation and implementation, donor relations, accountability, evaluations and control). The main tasks and responsibilities of the volunteer include: ( 1 ) Developing skills for working on projects - training and practice; ( 2 ) Assisting through active participation in Wings of Hope's ongoing projects (workshops for youth with disabilities or additional needs; seminars on the topic of "Active Job Seeking"; specialised work with minorities); ( 3 ) Shadowing the work of experienced project managers with the aim of developing own project competence; ( 4 ) Designing and implementing own projects; ( 5 ) Language learning aimed at facilitating the work with the local community, media, and partners; ( 6 ) Completing a Europass CV, Europass Mobility certificate, and Europass Language Passport. ( 7 ) Mentor meetings, including sessions for career development and sessions for assessment and self assessment of the EVS project. The key tasks and responsibilities of PortaBG and Wings of Hope include: ( 1 ) Effective communication, planning, and organising of all EVS related activities; ( 2 ) Settling all practical and logistical issues; ( 3 ) Providing initial support to the volunteer that would help her integrated into the EVS programme; ( 4 ) Providing additional support to the volunteer that would help her integrate into the socio-cultural environment in Sarajevo and Bosnia and Herzegovina. As well-established organisations, PortaBG and Wings of Hope have developed an approach and a method for working with volunteers, which they will continue to implement. During the EVS project both organisations will exchange good practices and ideas for future cooperation. This EVS project will have a considerable impact on the local level. The volunteer will participate directly in a host of activities that target the inhabitants of Sarajevo directly - the impact will focus particularly on individuals with special needs and vulnerable groups such as minorities, women, children, members of the LGBT community, people living below the absolute poverty line. The personal and professional development of the volunteer could have an impact on the national level seeing as the volunteer aims to continue working in the same field in Bulgaria after the completion of the EVS project. As a European Union Member State, Bulgaria participates in various human rights and social inclusion projects - projects, in which the volunteer would like to work in the long term. Through their work with the volunteer, the participating organisations in the EVS project will increase their resourses in terms of ideas and methodologies, international partnerships and practice. Seeing as the volunteer would like to develop her own projects, these projects can serve as an attestation for the effective influence of the sending and receiving organisations. The volunteer plans to start an internet page - a professional blog describing her personal and professional experience, developed as part of her EVS project. This blog could be useful for future EVS volunteers from around the world in the long term.
