Predšolska vzgoja v tujini (dijaki in osebje na praksi ter usposabljanju)
Start date: Jun 1, 2016, End date: May 31, 2018 PROJECT  FINISHED

Aspiring to be a modern school, Veno Pilon secondary school is taking part in the student and staff mobility programme entitled PRE-SCHOOL EDUCATION ABROAD (STUDENT AND STAFF IN SITU TRAINING). The aim is to bring out the potential and the talent of each individual as well as the social capital. It is an investment in knowledge, skills and competences that will serve students, the school and the society by contributing to personal growth as well as ensuring welfare and social inclusion in Europe and the world. After a successful completion of the mobility project in 2015, students and staff are embarking on a biennial project in 2016. The goals to be achieved through the project are to encourage students to gain new, useful knowledge and skills, broaden their horizons with personal growth being the result; enable the professional development of accompanying teachers who will include the experience gained in the project into their work; improve the participants’ knowledge of foreign languages (the working language in international kindergartens is English; however, toddlers from all over the world are taken care of in such kindergartens) and provide a chance for networking on an international scale; develop the sense of European citizenship and identity. The project coordinator will make sure communication among participants runs smoothly. In the course of two years 90 students and 6 accompanying teachers are going to stay in Hungary, Italy and Austria. In the autumn of 2016 and 2017 seventeen and eighteen year-old students are going to do a two-week internship in kindergartens with English as the language of communication. The students are going to work in preselected educational institutions in Milan, Vienna or Budapest and are going to stay in modern accommodation, monitored by accompanying teachers. Apart from doing the internship they are going to learn about the hosting city, its characteristics and the main sights as well as strengthen the team spirit and the bonds of multiculturalism. They are going to work on their personal growth as well as their communication skills in English. In capital letters they are going to write about the value called RESPECT. Also included in the project, 9 teachers are going to consolidate their professional skills and are going to learn about new pedagogical approaches useful in different activities carried out in kindergartens during a one-week professional training in the aforementioned cities. Internship abroad should become a must for the development of practical knowledge and skills among students, for the development of new partnerships, as for the professional growth of teachers who will gain experience straight from the workplace they prepare students for, plus work on their foreign language skills.Project results are going to be presented to pupils of the Pre-school programme, students at the Faculty of Education, Pre-school teaching; to professionals working in educating the abovementioned pupils and students; to internship mentors in kindergartens across Slovenia, to local, regional and state authority; and the mass media. Dissemination of results will certainly contribute to a positive opinion of the public regarding the school and Erasmus+ projects. It will encourage more people to join EU programmes.
