Within the framework of this project, selected apprentices of BASF SE (18 apprentices to Spain, 24 apprentices to Norway ) and Norwegian apprentices out of different companies will participate. The vocational fields will be technical, clerical and natural science. According to their professions the apprentices will be appointed to the partner companies and partner schools. There they will get knowledge about the training in the different job areas according to their own level of education. A cultural frame program will give the possibility to experience everyday life in the partner countries and creates space for social contacts with the apprentices in the exchange countries. Methods: The theoretical and practical contents of the training will be imparted activity-oriented. According to this method, not only the decision-making and responsibility will be fostered, also the holistic self-development will be supported. Aims of the project: a) Gathering of practical experience in a foreign company b) Gathering of training knowledge in a different cultural environment and language c) Increase of foreign language skills d) Social (inter cultural) competence e) Networking / Transfer of knowledge f) Become acquainted to a different educational system g) See other companies and vocational schools h) Implementation of the exchange into the qualification unit “International competencies” The participants will be for 3 weeks in Spain and 4 weeks in Norway. The project will support the consolidation of the european dimension in the initial vocational training. Due to the various contacts between the trainers, HR-staff and training specialists we will achieve a transnational network of cooperation in the field of IVT. Results: The long-term experiences in both exchange programs showed, that the above mentioned aims were achieved to the full extent. Not only the participating apprentices benefited from the program, but also the involved trainer and teacher increased their language and intercultural knowledge. Out of the project with the Spanish school Comte de Rius arosed a training cooperation between Comte de Rius and BASF SE. At the moment 20 trainees are trained in cooperation with BASF SE to become process operators. With a successful completion of this training they will be offered an employment at BASF SE in Ludwigshafen. Long-term Objectives: A continuation of the good cooperation with Comte de Rius in the area of process training is intended. Furthermore we want to broaden the project in Norway with new partners. The aim is, to increase the number of apprentices within this project to give more young people of BASF SE and our partners the possibility to take part is such an experience. Aditionally a stay of trainers in Spain and Norway is planned. With our partner in Spain a conceptual cooperation and thus a support of the spanish colleaques with their training of chemical plant operators is achieved. Also in Norway a closer cooperation between the exchange partners is achieved by the sending of an instructor. For the training staff the above mentioned project aims are also valid. The gained experience will be used within the support of the foreign apprentices during their stay at BASF Ludwigshafen.
