'Student Vocational Training in Portugal - a way to Career Success' is a project for students of School Cluster No 1 in Koszalin, which was carried out from 31.12.2014 to 30.12.2015 within the Programme Erasmus+, Education and Training Funding, Key Action1, Mobility for VET learners and Staff year 2014, cofinanced by European Scial Fund within the PO WER.The project was aimed at students of hotelary classes from School Cluster No 1 in Koszalin. Main aims of the project were: - gaining experience in the job of a hotelier by the participants - improving language and IT competencies - getting to know the specifics of hotelary business in Portugal - promoting the European student mobility on the European Labour Market - developng cultural awarness, openess and adaptation skills to new conditions of life and work in European Union. The project was aimed at 16 students of hotelary 2nd and 3rd classes of School Cluster No 1 in Koszalin who: - are 18 years old - have basic knowledge of English - have knowledge and skills in hotel business - behave well at school and have an approving opinion of their tutur - can justify well their will to take part in the project. Students willing to take part in the project underwent the recruitment process, As a result of that process 16 students were chosen to participate in the project. The students took part in the preparation programme in Poland and in Portugal. In Poland they finished a preparatory course that consisted of three parts: language, culture and pedagogy. In Portugal they underwent a cultural programme.They visited Braga, Porto and some places on the coast of the Atlantic Ocean. From 08.06 to 02.07.2015 the participants of the project completed their internships in 4 Portuguese hotels on the coast of the Atlantic Ocean: 'Apulia' in Apulia, Centrum Jana Pawła II in Apulia, 'Tropical Promises' in Estella and 'Zende' in Esposende. All the aims of the project were fullfilled and all the expected results of the project were reached. The results of the project are:: - completing the internships by all 16 students - getting certificates by the participants of the projects- Europass Mobility and internships completion certificates - broadening students' knowledge about hotel industry - developing language and ICT skills by the students - increasing students' motivation, self-assessment and belief in obtaining career success - defining career aptitude and increasing students' creativity and entrepreneurship - increasing students'assertivness and the ability to cope with difficult situations. During the internships the students: - presented the hotel offers - performed check-in and check-out operations - checked the condition of hotel rooms and prepared them for the hotel guests - provided support at the departure of the hotel guest - used hotel documents specific to hotel services - performed basic calculations specific to hotel services. All the students practiced their language skills. They used English vocational hotelary language, everyday English language and some basic Portuguese everyday phrases. Thanks to the participation in the project all the students got to know the diversity of Europe and learned tolerance and openess. Thanks to the project the participants will be better prepared to serve a foreign customer in hotels in Poland and to work abroad.The project will add a new value to the vocational career. of the participants.
