Start date: Nov 1, 2014, End date: Oct 31, 2015 PROJECT  FINISHED

The project took place in Portugal, in the vicinity of the city of Barcelos in the Minho region and was destined for two groups from Zespó? Szkó? nr 1 in Ostrów Mazowiecka of hairdresser specialization, each group counting 16 people. The placement enabled the professional development of pupils in a couple of Portuguese hairdressers' saloons and let them get to know the specificity of life abroad. They could compare Polish and foreign work methods. The participation let the participants improve their professional competences and boost their chances on the labour market. They could learn how to organize their work at hairdresser's, they could deepen their hair care abilities and customer service capacities. The placement contributed to the development of advantages needed in hairdresser's work: responsibility, patience, exactitude and kindness. The students trained at following hairdressers: Hairdresser PAULA CABELEIREIRA 946416585, Hairdresser Susana & Gonçalo - Cabeleireiro, Lda. 945816058, Hairdresser ROSA CABELEIREIRA 945813245, Hairdresser ANA GUEDES CABELEIREIROS 944511311. During the placement students could put into practice their theoretical knowledge gained at school. They could also train communication with clients and decision making. This way they improved their job skills and gained an extremely valuable experience. They improved their opportunities on the local, Polish and even European labour market. The qualifications they got are approved more and more by employers and are in line with the idea of the competitive economy. The experience they gained from cultural, legal, economic and linguistic differences they could notice in Portugal will translate into their adaptability (both in Poland and abroad) and boost their self-esteem so useful when you found your own company. The project also improved the mobility of students ? the best proof is that they were invited to come back to work in Portugal. The project was also an opportunity for a unique cultural experience ? to explore Portugal, Portuguese cities, to taste Portuguese cuisine. Such activities were covered by the cultural part of the project. Moreover, Polish students could also meet trainees from other countries like Greece, Romania, Italy, Turkey which enlarged the scope of new cultures. Students could also develop a lot of other positive features such as self-reliance, independence, responsibility for own decisions and for others. For the vast majority of them it was their first stay abroad that showed them how to manage in a foreign environment. The project also forced students to speak foreign languages, not only English, also Portuguese. They learnt to communicate in various everyday and professional situations. Finally, the project also strengthened their identification with the EU and European values.
