PRÁCTICAS EN EMPRESAS EUROPEAS DEL ALUMNADO DE FORMACIÓN PROFESIONAL.
Start date: Jul 1, 2014, End date: Jun 30, 2015 PROJECT  FINISHED

The main objectives of the programme “ On-the-job training in European firms” are: - To facilitate the stays of vocational students so that they can adapt themselves better to the requirements of the EC labour market. - Encourage the learning of EC foreign languages. - To perform the whole training in a EC working site. - To present a positive image of vocational studies. - To improve the quality and efficiency of education and training systems so that all students and trainees are able to acquire the qualifications and competences necessary to help their employability and at the same time guaranteeing a good education and training programme Six students have participated in this programme. The students have finished their medium grade vocational studies on the following specialities: Administrative Management; Car-body Repair, Electricity and Electronics, and Industrial Maintenance. The stays have taken place in two European countries, France (Lavelanet) with which we have shared experiences for four years now and, for the first time, Italy (Brescia). The stays have lasted about three months, from the 16th of March 2015 to the 12th of June 2015. During this time the students have been able to complete their on-the-job training modules, which has allowed them to finish their preparation and to obtain the required qualification. All the objectives of the programme have been fulfilled to a greater or lesser extent. The six participants had previously followed a 30-hour course in French and Italian languages given by two teachers, one of them a native teacher. This course together with the three-month experience in the host countries implies a real improvement in their linguistic competence. They have also completed their 410-hour on-the-job training period. During this time, they have performed most of the activities described on the formation programmes. These activities have been stamped and signed by both the visitor and host organizations. These stays have strengthened the Vocational Studies image in our centre. On the one hand, the host organizations have assessed the professional qualification of our students as very good. On their satisfaction surveys they have expressed their intention of continuing with the programme and have even hired one of the trainees in France. On the other hand, our students from the first vocational courses and other students from centres nearby are considering these Erasmus stays as a way to acquire new personal and professional experiences, which will make their incorporation to the world of work easier. We can also observe on the surveys filled in by the participants that these have highly considered the stays as a tool which has allowed them to mature from the personal as well as professional point of view. Consequently they will be able to adapt themselves more easily to a changing and more linguistically demanding work environment. To conclude we think that we have achieved a growing appreciation from students, families and firms of the tasks involved in educating professional students, and that our Secondary Education Centre SIGLO XXI can provide a good, updated education.
