Praca z uczniem zdolnym. Co robić, aby nie zaprzepaścić uczniowskich predyspozycji?
Start date: Nov 2, 2014, End date: Nov 1, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

Nowadays, working with gifted students is a priority in education. Our style of introducing children to the world of education is still quite formal. This can be seen by comparing our work with the work of other countries. Teachers brought up in another system are not always aware of this, they can only notice it when they experience a different style of teaching. The project title: "Don't waste the talent - working with gifted students to develop their interests and abilities." refers to the discovery of students' talents. The project is based on knowing the teaching methods used in working with gifted students from the early age. For teachers, the main purpose is to improve their competence. The effect will be to motivate students to learn and increase awareness of the use of the students' abilities not only in the classroom, but also in life. Other goals are to increase learning outcomes by using new methods to improve the quality of teachers' work and individual work with gifted students. The effects of motivation and improved attitudes to learning will be examined on a regular basis by surveys, comparing the learning outcomes, and the results of specific tests of students' achievements. The recruited teachers will focus on the institutions by experiencing new methods used in other countries through the participation in training sessions. Our school consists of a primary and a secondary school. Teachers who work with gifted students will be participate in the project and will be recruited in the context of mobility. Our activities will be properly monitored and evaluated to be able to guide the children properly, they will be our future students. We are a small school, well equipped and having the support of the executive management body who wants to continue the support and participation in our activities. The course organisers are glad to help us, they will take us to the world of gifted students. At the end of the project we will write a booklet with new methods used during the trainings. Participants will be divided into two groups. We are planning the mobility during summer break in 2014 and the summer 2015. Since we are a small school, we cannot travel the other dates. The first group will go to school to IPC in Exeter and the second one to GLIC in Gloucester, England. We are working with the course organisers through instant messaging, we will start a blog called "In the world of gifted students'' where we will post our activities. The teacher's role is, therefore, to get through their actions the highest motivation of gifted students and use their talents in their work. Developing motivation is called the art of students' motivation and a good teacher should improve the role, that is why we will get professional development. One way to increase the motivation is to improve the pedagogical competence by the exchange experiences with teachers from other countries. International cooperation offers great career opportunities and increases the competence of teachers, and only a qualified teacher can develop the students' minds. This is the challenge for us.
