Pour l’amélioration des compétences transversales en section bilingue
Start date: Sep 1, 2014, End date: Aug 31, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

The strategic project PACTES (Pour l’Amélioration des Compétences Transversales en Section Bilingue) brings together four European schools : IES Juan de Mairena in San Sebastián de los Reyes (Spain), Burgau-Gymnasium in Düren (Germany), G. Luosi High School in Mirandola (Italy) and Lycée Sainte-Thérèse in Quimper (France). The participating secondary schools have a distinctive mark in common: the German, Spanish and Italian schools have a Binational Section, offering their students the opportunity to get the French Baccalauréat and the national final exam (Abitur, Bachiller, Esame di Stato) simultaneously. The French school itself offers classes in the three languages of its partner countries and joined them especially in the context of its European Spanish Section and Teaching of History and Geography in DNL (Discipline Non Linguistique). Throughout the project, students of ‘Seconde’ (14-15 years old) and ‘Première’ (15-16 years old), supported and guided by a team of teachers from different disciplines, will work collaboratively on the platform eTwinning in the development of a series of short documentaries on European issues, among others, the construction of the European Union from the testimonies of Germans, French, Spanish and Italian people. Moreover, they will participate in class exchanges and activities of individual mobility to develop a common project and to experience living and studying in the country of the target language. Also, teachers involved in Sections will write a contrastive study of Abibac, Bachibac and Esabac programs, which include reflections and methodological recommendations concerning the teaching of the DNL History and Geography and Language and French Literature in binational bilingual programs . Through these activities, students will improve their soft skills (academic, linguistic, numerical, organizational and social) while increasing their level of cultural awareness and their sense of belonging to the European Union. Teachers will deepen their knowledge in the field of bilingual education and enhance their teaching practices. Finally, the partner schools will strengthen the position of the target language and the European dimension included in their school project.
