The mission of Zespol Szkol Specjalnych is to pursuit constant elevation of quality of life for students with mental disabilities by providing them with opportunities to effectively acquire competencies necessary for their social and emotional development, rise of self-esteem and to achieve the highest, for their intellectual ability, degree of independence in their personal, social and professional lives. In order to more effectively fulfill this mission, the teaching body decided that there is a need for the school to expand to not only local but European level, with perspectives of further development in the area of raising the level of quality of work being done.This need can be satisfied by firstly improving the teaching body foreign communication skills, primarily in English and German. Functional improvements in this area will have impact on long-term perspectives for international cooperation, students' participation in foreign workshops, further development of teaching ability, and expanding the school's current activities involving hosting international volunteers.This goal will be accomplished by:- Participation in an English language course by 20 people: the headmaster, deputy headmaster and various school curriculum teachers and therapists. Persons already representing a higher level of fluency will be taking part in a course organized by the Executive Training Institute, located in Malta. On the other hand, starter level group will attend classes organized by the ADC College with headquarters in London. - Participation in an intermediate level German language course: 2 therapists. The course will be held at the GOETHE Institut in Munchen. - Participation in a language-methodical course for 3 English language teachers, organized by the Executive Training Institute based in Malta. Furthermore the English and German courses will be preceded by a 70-hour stationary English class and a 70-hour German class on-site at the school.
