The project “Broadening horizons while gaining practical work experience abroad” comprises two main activities. The first one will enable students of Zespół Szkół Ponadgimnazjalnych nr 6 im. Mikołaja Kopernika (technical college in Ruda Śląska, Poland) to have their 4-week practical training in Germany. Two groups of students consisting of 25 students each (15 ICT students and 10 builders) are going to take part in this project activity. The first one will have their practical training from 23.04.2017 to 20.05.2017, the other one from 10.09.2017 to 7.10.2017. The host organisation is VITALIS GmbH with its headquarters in Schkeuditz near Leipzig, Germany. ICT students will have their practical training in ROBOTRON Training Centre in Leipzig and the builders in a historical knight court in Gut Wehlitz in Schkeuditz and in building companies. The other project activity is aimed at our best students. This time two groups of students (20 pupils each; i.e. 15 ICT students and 5 builders) will go to Milan, Italy to have their two-week practical training (04.12.2016 – 17.12.2016 and 27.08.2017- 09.09.2017). The main criteria which will be taken into account while choosing the candidates are their school results and behaviour. The host organisations are two companies: NuZoo Robotics and Vitali SpA.Our priority is high quality of vocational education. Both project activities are supposed to help our students get new qualifications and find a good job in the future. All participants will be given an opportunity to compare their theoretical knowledge with the reality of European ICT and construction market and to learn new skills. As far as the ICT group is concerned, the students will improve their skills in : designing and building networks, installing and configuring servers, monitoring network, performance, configuring network devices, administering operating systems, diagnosing and fixing network problems, implementing wireless networks, designing Internet applications, following health and safety procedures. The builders will improve their skills in: using building engineering systems, understanding technical documentation, carrying out measurements in building site, renovating and expanding residential buildings, interior finishing, masonry work, brickwork, basics of insulation. The two-week training in Italy for our best students will cover the material going beyond the school curriculum. Another aim of our project is promoting foreign language learning and European values. We are aware of the fact that knowing foreign languages deteriorates cultural and national differences. Taking part in the project will enable our students to improve their language skills and cultural awareness. Moreover, they will improve their interpersonal, social and organisational skills.
