Start date: Jun 1, 2016, End date: May 31, 2017 PROJECT  FINISHED

Our school, which is a small-sized rural school with 145 students, has decided to join a project called ‘’A progressive teacher is a student's assisstance on the way to their educational changes ’’. The project is aimed at improving the level of the German language teaching by providing a competent and a versatile teacher. The teacher with her/his acquired skills and knowledge will support the school in terms of making the school class offer more attractive. The students will be also more interested in some of the European issues. These key objectives are to be achieved by implementing some precise actions focused on both the teacher and the students. The main planned actions to be covered in the project work are the following:- starting a European Club class with German as the working language. In this area some key European aspects will be covered, like finding our own European identity. Also, the students’ language skills will be developed;- issuing an information paper on European countries and European projects directed to the young;- finding other schools for doing different EU projects, including eTwinning;- taking up an A1 mobility action in the field of staff/workers overseas training. The teacher of German is planning to do a 14-day language and methodology course. The latter action, whose a superior aim is to exert an influence upon the students, plays the major role in the realization of the project within our school. The teacher’s mobility is supposed to guarantee the school proper realization of the projects which are in progress now, including partnership cooperation with the Greek and the Italian school doing with us an e Twinning project. The broad European Club’s offer directed at students will:- help them find out more about some other European systems of education in different European countries;- enable them to participate in the European system of education;- help them understand better the rich and diverse European cultures;- reinforce their European identity;- develop the European spirit among the European Club participants and let it widespread among the local community members;- help them develop language communication skills using IT tools opportunities.Another important key aspect of the project is to enhance the school’s prestige and its being perceived from the outside. Despite a great number of teachers being engaged in the entire project work within the organization, only one teacher- the teacher of German, is using the mobility action. It is mainly because she is the only one, whose language competence is developed enough, to take part in quality language and methodology courses led entirely in German. In the final stage of the project its evaluation will take place. It will be project documentation analysis and the other form of assessing the teachers’ work itself from the students’ point of view and them being satisfied, will be questionnaires. In this area, we are also planning to organise an open classes in which some of the innovative techniques and methods of the German language teaching are going to be presented.
