Dolnośląski Specjalny Ośrodek Szkolno - Wychowawczy nr 12 dla Niesłyszących i Słabosłyszących (The Lower Silesian Special Educational Centre number 12 for the Deaf and Hearing-Impaired ) in Wroclaw would like to run the project 'Helpful hands: foreign practices for the Deaf'. In the project, there would be 16 pupils taking part in the foreign practices in the following specialisations: cook, carpenter and florist. The participants of the project are disabled people: they are either deaf or hearing-impaired. The aim of the project is to increase the skills and professional competences among the pupils and to gain knowledge about the reality of working in the international team. The project has been developed and will be realised with the elements of PCM management methodology. During the project the pupils will be covered with permanent care by tutors /vocational instructors. There will be permanent attendence of the sign language interpreters in order to support communication. The pupils will also take part in a variety of preparing training, among others: cultural and pedagogical training, the reality of living in the foreign country training, two language trainings (English and German). The predicted results of the project are: acquiring new occupational skills and their implementation in practice, acquiring new communication and social competences, increasing the chances into employment and the readiness to pursue employment after finishing education.
