Pomoc pre miestnu komunitu / Help for local community
Start date: Jun 1, 2016, End date: Nov 30, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

Many today's decision of adults will take effect on the environment in the future. If young people have to bear the consequences of these decisions, it is important for them to learn to plan and implement their own activities for the benefit of the local community and subsequently take responsibility for good solutions from the idea to realization. Many young people have unfulfilled need how to learn to participate on decision making about their community and the environment. The current situation as regards (only) protecting the environment in the Russian Federation is a Central-European perspective perceived as not changeable by civil activities of adults, not even young people. Slatinka village is similar as far Siberia – it was a formal authority from "outside" who decided about our future. It was perceived as "unperceptive" for many years ago. It is an excellent opportunity how to invent, develop and do something for the benefit of others for young people in this community. They can obtain knowledge, skills and competencies then use in their own community, they also perceive others as "unperceptive".The specific objective of the project is to improve the level of key competences and skills of young people who come from geographically remote area of the Russian Federation by identifying and participate in solving everyday problems in one local community in Slovakia. These problems are primarily environmental, but have connection and limit the quality of life in this valley. The wider objective of the project "Help for local community" in the context of the ERASMUS + program is to facilitate the efficient investment in knowledge, skills and competences of young people and society so that young people can apply the acquired knowledge for the prosperity and growth in Europe and beyond in the future.Participating countries are Slovakia and Russia. The main activity of the project is a long-term /5 months/ European Voluntary Service for two volunteers from the Russian Federation, the city in Siberia. Volunteers contacted host organization at the beginning. Subsequently Slatinka Association contacted the sending organization in Russia. Both volunteers are from an environment that is geographically remote and it is a rather economically weak regions. The activity will be implemented in Zvolen and in Slatina river valley, in Slatinka village from June to November 2016. Volunteers will work on the four themes. Their common characteristic is that volunteers will be involved in the planning, preparation and implementation, and will participate on decisions about activities. Circuits of activities: 1) care for the environment, management of natural biotopes in Slatinka and in Zvolen; 2) monitoring of nature ecosystems with children and young people, 3) renovation of library ( as a community center), preparing and organizing community events especially for children and young people and 4) the preparation and realization of public events, workshops and information sessions on environmental protection, volunteering and participation of young people in nature conservancy. Education in the project will be realized by informal education methods - based on the principle of learning by doing. At the beginning volunteers will help to Association staff. Later they will independently plan and do activities for the benefit of the local community, and environment. The gain or improve various competencies (social and civic competences, as well as cultural awareness and expression, communication and organizational knowledge, skills and competences). Volunteers will receive after the EVS Youthpass certificate + a skills assessment will be realized through a national on-line tool D skills. The results of our project will be mainly knowledge and experiences gained by volunteers, as well as the local community, young volunteers, children. Another result will be improved various skills of volunteers (especially language skills) cultural awareness, values of tolerance, respect for human rights and critical thinking in European countries. These will spread across the web, social networks, participation in information sessions, sharing in a network of NGOs and media.
