The one-year project „Conquering language barrier among students of Tynieckie Gimnazjum Społeczne as a key to the future cooperation with the Pool Academy in Great Britain” was written as a response to the needs of the school noticed and described in the European Development Plan. The main aim of the project was to increase students' ease and fluency in speaking English. Most of the students experience a blockade while speaking, have difficulty with applying their grammatical or lexical knowledge gained during English lessons, what results in unclear speeches. Since we found that such a barrier can result from the lack of having a real-time conversation with English-speaking peers, we provided our students with a set of active conversation lessons lead by a native speaker, participation in workshops with a native speaker lecturer, letters exchange with the English teenagers and a wide range of activities during English lessons. These activities were introduced by the English teachers who took part in the courses in Great Britain, which provided them with the methodology of improving students' speaking skills. The other teachers, not directly involved in the project were acquainted with the new methods, able to modify them and implement in their subjects. They could find solutions especially useful in dealing with students who have difficulties in acquiring knowledge. Another aim of the project was to provide our students with the possibility of a good start in the adult life and a chance to achieve success connected with having a good job. Our students gained the awarness of being the outright and active members of the European community. ICT competences, progress, development of technological base and introduction of new technologies necessary for working in eTwinning portal and cooperation with the Pool Academy were the other aims of the project. Established cooperation with the Pool Academy has a motivating influence on the whole school community, gives a European dimension to our school and increases the value of our Gimnazjum as an educational institution. It will let our students who live in quite negative area in the suburbs for an easier access to a democratic European life. Due to improved skills in the field of ICT and communication supported by good knowledge of English our students will graduate from Gimnazjum being ready to find a job and achieve satisfying goals. The teachers who took part in the courses significantly improved their competences not only within the language skills area, but also organisation of teaching process, project work experience and personal development. Two English teachers, who took part in foreign courses (mobilities) were the main participants in the present project, as well as all students who were supposed to improve their speaking abilities, other teachers, who used and adjusted English teachers' knowledge and the IT teacher, who was involved in the development of ICT skills of our students, helped with the work connected with eTwinning platform and with documents preparation and sharing on the school website. The activities we carried out: participation in courses: Using Technology, Music and Drama in the EFL Classroom and Developing Oral Fluency in the Secondary English Classroom participation in methodology conference by PASE Super Star applying new skills achieved during the courses in conquering students' language barrier organization of extra classes with native speakers attending the workshops for students led by English speakers preparing the students for the final performance in English, showing the acquired speaking skills handing the knowledge over to other teachers developing the collaboration with the Pool Academy monitoring of students' correspondence and skype meetings developing and improving technical base of the school registering on eTwinning platform organisation of an ICT workshop for students and teachers making and evaluating surveys among students concerning their needs and abilities discussion with the teachers summarising the project and its influence
