Youth’s economical and social integration is a key issue for all societies. In Lebanon, where 55% of the population is under 35, the stakes are even higher. The long lasting tensions between communities, the high cost of life and the few available professional opportunities lead most young Lebanese either to emigrate, or to live in unstable conditions. 22.12% of them are unemployed, and many of them must contract several low income jobs to survive. Their access to the job market, and therefore to the adult life, is getting more and more complicated. To face these issues, arcenciel has created several programs dedicated to the social and professional integration of Lebanese youths. The NGO has thus created the “Youth Points” project within its Youth program. These “Youth Points” aim at granting specialized meeting points dedicated to their job research and providing specific trainings. The Youth Points offer free classes (basic French and English, computer skills, etc.), punctual workshops (CV writing, job interview, etc.), and individual services for academic and professional orientation (skill assessments, professional projects, etc.). In order to strengthen this project’s durability, we wish to integrate three European volunteers to the team. The first volunteer will assist the project manager. He or she will help to organize workshops on job hunting, CV and cover letters writing, job interviews practicing, academic opportunities in Lebanon and helps granted to young Lebanese. The second volunteer will be involved in the workshops and in direct contact with the beneficiaries. The third volunteer will help the communication team. He or she will update the communication tools, write brief articles to be published on the Youth program’s facebook page, as well as arcenciel’s wep site and intranet. The three 12 months missions will be in Beirut. When the project will be mature enough, we wish to compose a team of French youth in difficulty, as well as a Lebanese one, to organize an exchange program in France and in Lebanon to debate the employment problematic in both countries.
