Poetry Reaching Out
Poetry Reaching Out
Start date: Jul 1, 2010,
The present project attempts to enable the art of poetry to reach out to the broader audience in both social as well as artistic sense. The project develops organically and further enhances the potential of all the involved partners' past and present activities, devoted to the promotion of poetry via various channels, while, at the same time, seeking to open up new venues of poetry cultivation with the prime aim of achieving its broader social impact. These goals and project activities will attract attention of marginalised social groups. The aim of the project is to develop social and artistic techniques, by that including and inspiring these groups to partake in the creative and fulfilling process of the art of poetry. These techniques will open new and otherwise not fully explored ways of social inclusion, which seek to develop new skills and patterns in the mind. Potentially, the art of poetry can stimulate and encourage individual creativity and thus help in the process of social education, by bridging the gaps of social opportunity. At the same time, for the benefit of a cultured European society, we believe it is of major importance for poetry to be able to reach out of its underrated position of printed medium, marginalised by the present market forces. We will pursue this goal by combining poetry with other artistic disciplines, such as music, video art, as well as fine arts and drama, which have a broader social impact. Another important way for poetry to reach out of its traditionally somewhat narrow confines is to pursue and develop mutual contexts, not only with other forms of art, but also with different fields of social and natural sciences.
