POÈTE - Portfolio Of Evidence Transfer to Europe

Reason: The initiative for this project proposal was taken during the contact seminar “Work based learning Partnerships” which took place in October 2007 in Finland. The inventory taken at day 1 showed that in all 3 workshops there was an urgent need identified to develop a tool that would allow assessment of learning effects during placements or during work. In response to that need the outcome of the just finished project ProVoTrain (LV/05/B/F/PP-172.007, 2005-2007) was presented. In the workgroup that resulted from this presentation the present project was further developed; not just the ProVoTrain outcome would be transferred, also a new tool would be produced that will provide a knowledge and reference base for the trainee during the placement, allow settling in quickly and that could also become the yardstick against which the effect of the placement in terms of learning can be measured.General aim: To transfer and develop tools which will improve the effectiveness of on the job learning in apprenticeship schemes and placements. Objectives: To transfer and adapt the ProVoTrain assessment tool for placement learning evaluation and assessment and to develop a standard tool to describe the placement environment for learning purposes.Expected outcomes:- Description of the a procedure preparing effective placements, - An introduction (or short course) for employers offering placements on the importance of the tools used for both the student and the employer,- Descriptive format to elaborate on the quality and competence of the placement environment,- Transfer and translation of the Portfolio of Evidence as developed by ProVoTrain project,- Transfer of the Training of Trainers course for using the tools if POETE,- The piloting during ProVoTrain has showed that the 3 parties agreement underlying the learning placement worked out as an excellent motivation for both the employer and the student. The partnership consist of the promoter and 3 partners responsible for the development of the ProVoTrain project and 6 partners from 6 countries to which the transfer will take place. These partners will make efforts to present the outcome at national vocational education forums. Impact foreseen is improvement of the effect of experiential learning in vocational education, increased motivation of all 3 parties involved and in the end improved competency of the VET students with respect to future work and learning.
