Podążamy w kierunku tolerancji, akceptacji, szanujemy tożsamość i inność narodów.
Start date: May 1, 2016, End date: Oct 31, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

The last events in Europe became the immediate impetus for writing the project "We striving towards tolerance and acceptance. We respect the identity and individuality of nations" The problem of tolerance has always been an important factor in shaping the relations among different social groups. The events in Ukraine, the migration of people from the Middle East and Africa to Europe and various attitude of European countries to the immigrant population have significantly raised awareness of the Europeans. Our project is an attempt to understand, and perhaps give answers to our questions about civil attitude in relation to people who have got another religion, culture, nationality, cultivate different traditions and customs and have a different skin color. We are inhabitants of a border town, in which representatives of various minorities have lived for many years , therefore the issue of acceptance of the "other" human is really close to us. Our society is also very diverse in terms of welfare. Among us there are people from families with very modest income and who are often from former state farms. These factors have further strengthened our belief that it is we, young people from different social backgrounds, should implement such a projectThe aim of the project is to understand, at least in general terms, culture, traditions and history of the partner countries. It is also important to make new friends, increase language competence, in particular the use of English, to abolish cultural and ethnic stereotypes inherent in the mentality of our societies. Our project is a direct response to the problem of acceptance of a human with a different way of perceiving the world, having other cultural heritage. In addition to breaking down cultural, religious barriers we would like to raise an issue of sensitizing people to another human’s harm, the excitation of willingness to support a human at difficult times.A group of 30 young people, including 10 Swedes, 10 Ukrainians, 10 Poles aged 16-17 years will take part in the project . The group will consist of both boys and girls from different social backgrounds. However, the project will cover a much wider circle of people because other students and teachers of partner schools from Sweden, Ukraine and Poland will help us with this ptoject . In addition, through the cooperation with various institutions and the actions taken during the youth exchange we will also engage the local community of our towns in the the project. We will prepare and perform a mini - concert and mime during our outdoor picnic for the residents of our city. Our objectives will be achieved through a number of different activities. There will be included video conferencing of students from 3 schools preceding the direct meetings of students in every country. We plan to organize 3 meetings of youth, 5 days in each country. The first meeting of students will take place in September 2016 in Sweden, the other in Ukraine - in May 2017 and the third in Poland - in September 2017 during which we will summarize the project. Different ways and methods of working will help us achieve the goals. For example: problem discussions, debates, brainstorming, group work, drama classes, dance, singing, sports games, quizzes, multimedia presentations about our schools, cities, countries, language classes in a form of entertainment, art and photo contest, interviews with local people, outdoor picnic, performances (mime, singing, dance), sightseeing and educational tours. While the existing bilateral youth exchanges there have always scrolled the above-mentioned forms of work, but the exchange, which we are planning, will be unique for us because this time representatives of three cultures will meet and it will be an amazing experience for all the participants of the project.Joint activities of young Swedes, Ukrainians, Poles will certainly contribute to integration, esteblishing friendship, expanding our knowledge of the partner‘s country, they will affect the awareness of each of us as a European, our views on the issue of otherness of nations, as well as adherence of their national traditions, customs , values. This will be possible thanks to the acquired skills of cooperation with young people of another country, improved language skills in English and the basic words and expressions which students will learn in Swedish, Polish, Ukrainian. The implementation of the project will affect the awareness of direct participants and persons involved in it and it will change their outlook, help them establish a dialogue with representatives of other cultures, it will make them sensitive to hurt another human being, it will help them take a decision on the acceptance of another human. This will allow us to answer the question: "How to be a good European?
