Pleased to meet you!

This project is a multilateral partnership which involves 10 European preprimary and primary schools from different countries:Belgium, Spain, Malta, Finland (2 schools), Italy, Turkey, Ireland, Hungary and Romania. Nothing describes our project better than our motto: 'Pleased to meet you'. Our project aims at discovering different aspects of ‘culture’ in the partner countries through the eyes of a touring teddy bear called Jan, named after Jan Comenius. (a similar mascot in each school) The teddy gives assignments to the children and also travels virtually in the different countries. The children are asked to perform the assignments.Throughout the project the pupils will discover the culture of the partner countries. The results of this process will be put on the project website. We will target ICT development through using multimedia tools such as eTwinning, email, eggie talk, powerpoint presentations, LIM activities, Skype, photobooks and a digital dictionary. The children will engage actively in designing quizzes, games, dictionaries, designing a logo, exchanging objects of national and local importance, exchanging Christmas and Easter cards, picture books, creating a growing story book. The project will then culminate in an exhibition of all project materials being shared with the members of the school and local community in each partner school. A celebratory exhibition in every school of all the project work will be our final task and will involve members of our local and national organisations. As we progress through the project we will encourage the use of other European languages. To intensify this process of getting to know each other and each others' culture we will organise every project year a meeting for pupils of the 5th and 6th grade of each partner school, called international week.
