Play Relay
Start date: Aug 1, 2014, End date: Dec 31, 2015 PROJECT  FINISHED

Project Play Relay was conducted as a part of Adventure Playground, which is one of the projects within Youth Aid Centre Association. Adventure playground is located in forest, in the Mali Betnavski gozd, and it offers variety of opportunities for quality leisure time of children and youth. Adventure playground has different corners, where children can woodwork, make fire, make different crafts or take care of plants in a small vegetable garden. Values, that we are encouraging, are solidarity, tolerance and cultural dialogue. We are also trying to create and develop environment, that allows improvement of the key competences of children and youth and of our volunteers, which will provide them with more efficient functioning in their social and working environment. With the EVS project we were trying to enrich the Adventure playground project with international dimension. We were hosting two volunteers in the project, a girl from Russia and a boy from Serbia. They are both 22 years old and are interested in working with children and youth. They were participating in the activities of the playground, got to know the playwork method and had the opportunity to finalize a project of their own with the support of a mentor and other playground staff. It was a long term project, volunteers have been co-creating the program of adventure playground with us for 12 months. Volunteers gained a lot of knowledge in communication, social interaction and ICT tehnology as well as developed even more their creativity, independence and responsibility. We were encouraging them to transfer the knowledge they have gained to their home countries. . European Voluntary Service project Play Relay had a significant contribution to a quality of life in a whole local community, that is strongly linked to the playground’s work.
