Start date: Sep 1, 2016, End date: Aug 31, 2017 PROJECT  FINISHED

3."Play, Learn and Rise into the cloud. Teaching in digital era"The transition from non digital to digital era has created new challenges for the european school community. In a rapidly changing world due to the information explosion certain skills, such as critical thinking, must be acquired for the future citizens so as to be able to utilize the rapid changes and not to get lost into them. The learning environment becomes more complicated and demanding. Actions should be taken in the early stages of the learning process. Emphasis should be given on the creation of well-organized learning supporting structures. With these thoughts our school organization came up to the decision to explore a range of eLearning methods, innovations and technologies to better prepare our students as a new generation of learners. To adress the needs mentioned above three different in-service training courses were selected and will be attended by three members of the teaching staff. Not all courses were selected from the same provider, as to get profit from different educational sources, if possible. All courses meet the need for digital innovation in school and to the development of mobile learning using smartphones and tablets in education. The training courses that were selected are:1. "Tap-Swipe-Pinch – General": The courses is focusing on pedagogical use of tablets in schools in order to approach new teaching methods, adaptive to most of the core subjects.2. "Game based learning and Gamification": Gamification is a powerful tool and when properly utilized in teaching, it can greatly increase effectiveness of teaching. The basic principle of gamification is to affect people’s behaviour through motivation. The tool is quite new for Greece's educational system.3. "Digital Extra": Basic eLearning and media skills will be developed and more advanced competencies in ICT enhanced learning will be addressed by this course. To embrace the whole school community, the first course will be attended by a teacher of theoretical studies, the second by an ICT teacher, and the third one by a teacher from the science department. At least two of the three staff members will be teachers that haven't had the opportunity to participate to Erasmus+ actions till now.Our school organization will use the intellectual output of the courses to design, implement and evaluate a school policy plan focusing in the use of innovative teaching methods, eLearning and mLearning accompanied by the new perspective of Game based learning. A long term impact of this action is also the life long development of the educators professional skills and an innovative and Europe oriented way of thinking among our school graduates.Life long learning programms through open online sources and massive online open courses could benefit the local community as well. For that reason the dissemination activities will be a vital part of the programm. The school website, the local media and the social network will keep updated everyone interested. Open days and meetings will be held, as to give the opportunity to teachers of neighbouring schools, students and local authorities to share ideas, learn and collaborate together.•Finally, cross-border cooperation will be strengthened in order to find common ground to discuss common problems and collaborative learning will be encouraged in order to create in the future our own open educational resources and innovative intellectual outputs.
