Plan de Formación y Actualización Europea del Profesorado 2015/2016
Start date: Jun 1, 2015, End date: May 31, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

Arroyo Hondo Secondary School, in Rota, is a school located in the Bay of Cadiz, which belongs to the network of bilingual schools in English. We offer secondary education and basic, middle and upper vocational training. Currently It includes bilingual teaching in two lines in compulsory secondary education and one line in post-compulsory secondary education, with prospects of further growth, since one of the affiliated schools has been declared bilingual in all its lines. Our school has always been very involved in its teaching staff training as well as in European programmes under the Comenius programme. The new challenges we face are new teachers'training, specially for those who have been integrated in our growing bilingual school project, the adaptation to a new methodology of evaluation based on basic skills, the permanent improvement of the training of teachers of non-linguistic subjects, and the transition to the new type of European projects according to the Erasmus + Programme. We expect the participation of the teachers involved in the billingual project, especially of non-linguistic subjects which require a specific training completely different from those offered by CEP (Teacher training centres) and the internal working groups. We will mainly apply for courses offered on the School Education Gateway platform and they will be carried out in periods which may cause a minimum impact on the teaching activity of those interested. As it is our first attempt to participate in a K1 project, we decided to ask for a 12 months project, in order to gather enough experience to apply for more ambitious projects in the future. We estimate that two training courses will be enough to cover the goals of the project. There will be two courses during the 2015 / 2016 period. Participants will be selected by a selection Committee set to that effect, and the criteria for selection will be included in the project. After the completion of the activities a dissemination plan will be held by phases which will cover from the classroom to the national and European level. The expected impact will be double: On the one hand, all the experience and knowledge acquired by participants will be provided to the educational community, so there will be a chain effect that will benefit all levels of the community, teachers, students and families. On the other hand, the knowledge and understanding of new methods will not only allow the involvement of practitioners in future projects of educational innovation, but also directly boost and motivate the creation and leadership of these projects, and will promote the acquisition and use of new materials and take care of the maintenance of the existing ones.
