Pipes of Peace
Start date: May 1, 2015, End date: Oct 1, 2015 PROJECT  FINISHED

From 11th to 26th of July 2015, this youth exchange will gather 27 participants from 5 countries. This activity should enable young people to initiate a collective and personal reflection on the importance of promoting the values of citizenship and intercultural dialogue while maintaining the collective memory of a past conflict as the WW1 and their repercussions. Through the use of non-formal education and artistic methods, participants will explore some communication tools usually used during the first war to spread ideas to the population. To express their opinion on the importance of improving community life and citizenship values, the participants will revisit communication tools as posters, writing letters and caricature. Through artistic workshops the group will use the power of images and writing to express their opinion and to valorise their sense of creativity During the youth exchange, participants will have the opportunity to go on cultural visits linked with WW1 to help them developing a better understanding of the historical events. The project will lead to public exhibition and will be publicly shown in the City of Marche-en-Famenne. We hope this project will contribute to raise awareness with participants about the importance of promoting tolerance and be a good example of active citizenship.
