Being close to the borders, our regional education authority is a place of refuge, of which interculturality is an integral part. Our region is one with many riches, but also complexities, therefore we feel that recent national events bring us to reaffirm certain values of which our schools are and must be major carriers. By extension, it is in such dimensions as opening up to others and in welcoming differences that these principles take on immense importance.In the current geopolitical and social climate it seems vital to reaffirm these values, yet in order to do so, we need stimulation with regards to the outworking of peaceful coexistence/living in harmony in other countries. Likewise, our regional plans concerning targeted priority areas have led us to facilitate participation from school staff in our region in a shadowing programme in our partnering European countries based on three major themes: inclusive schooling, citizenship education and employability of students.PimeAM 2 is a school staff European mobility programme covering the Aix-Marseille regional education authority. Overseen by a strategic steering group made up of the most senior managers and an operational steering group, the Local Education Authority, the CANOPE network and thirteen schools will be involved. It will bring the fulfillment of 94 mobilities in 9 countries (Austria, Finland, Germany, Greece, Italy, Norway, Portugal, Scotland and Spain). Based around the strategic theme of inclusion in the educational system, the aim is to create an interdisciplinary group dynamic focusing on educational issues across Europe through observation periods. Enhancement of the results long term will be assured by including the findings in the future Regional Training Scheme and by communicating them electronically.
