Furthermore the project wants to accomplish a constructive contribution to education and international creative networking for young people. In this context art is taking over an important position: it is supporting social competence, cognitive flexibility, is opening new option- and activity spaces, is furthering tolerance, freedom and plurality of society. Art is enabeling freedom opposite to functional compulsions. Syracuse together with Pantalica was declared as world heritage in 2005. Next to its outstanding architectural achievements it is offering a remarkable cultural plurality and is giving testimony of the development of society over three thousand years. Especially the work of Archimedes, one of the leading scientists in classical antiquity, is supposed to be part of the work with young people. The work on Archimedes is taking place process-oriented through non formal learning. Poetic- aswell as scientific aspects will be chosen freely by every participant. The creative results will be presented in terms of an exibition.
