PhD Education in Energy Efficient Electrotechnologies at Russian Universities
Start date: Oct 15, 2010,

The wide objective of this Project is the development and implementation of PhD modular curricula in the field of Electrotechnology in RU (official specific ministry number in RU is 05.09.10 - "Electrotechnology") by ETU, SibFu, NSTU and SamSTU.The Russian Federation has signed the Bologna declaration. Therefore within next years all Russian universities have to reform the PhD curricula according to the Bologna process. Several Russian universities offer a PhD education in Electrotechnology, main centres are ETU, NSTU, SibFU and SamSTU. However, actually specific courses in Electrotechnology are not available for PhD students at RU universities. Therefore the aim of the project is to develop new PhD curricula with new courses in all different fields of Electrotechnology especially for PhD students with the support of EU universities which have already long experience and large knowledge in such courses and to implement the new PhD curricula at the 4 RU partner universities in the frame of the project. Additionally the laboratories of the RU universities will be updated especially for the PhD education. In order to save costs for this implementation, the introduction of new courses for Electrotechnology with the support of teachers from EU universities will be realized by intensive courses of 1 or 2 weeks instead of weekly lectures over whole year. The intensive courses will be organized at one RU partner university during 1 or 2 weeks, in total 2 basic and 4 specific courses. The lectures will be given by EU professors. Moreover also PhD students from other RU partner universities will attend the courses. Thus all PhD students of all RU partner universities will attend all new courses during the project. New teaching materials will be prepared by EU universities and printed in English, translated and printed in Russian. 24 young RU teachers will be retrained in EU universities during 1 month, 48 PhD students will be trained in EU universities during 1 month.
