The Business College and Business School in Baden has been active in intercultural communication for a long time (two intercultural school projects initiated and organised by Beate Jorda in 2010 and 2013 "Together - celebrating diversity", participation in the 19th Arab Children Congress in Amman, Jordan in 2009). Our students come from 26 different nations, so intercultural competence has always been an important issue at our school.This project is carried out by Mag. Beate Jorda, teacher of English and History in Baden and Kati Luhtajarvi-Nikkanen who teaches English and German at the Technical College in Tampere.We are planning the following activities: presentations of Austria, job shadowing, hospitations, team teaching as well as activities outside the classroom.Important goals of the visit in Finland:- to get insight and inspirations as far as educational policies are concerned- to learn from the winner of the PISA survey- to exchange ideas for teaching methods- to increase intercultural competence- to benefit greatly from the stay in Finland by carefully preparing every step- to learn something about the situation of women in Finland- to intensify the Austrian-Finnish relationship- to present Austria as the ideal tourist destination- to create awareness for the cultural diversity of Austria- to contribute to a gender equal society- to find out differences between Austria and Finland- to establish and cultivate contacts between Austrian and Finnish students- to pass on individual experiences and teaching methods to colleagues of my school in Baden
