Perma-Creativity
Start date: Feb 1, 2015, End date: Sep 30, 2015 PROJECT  FINISHED

Our need was to face either rural development and youth unemployment. The main economic activity in our local context is agriculture but a new approach with more sustainable practices is needed. The youth unemployment and young people depopulation, due to a lack of job opportunities, are another burning issues we are confronted with. Perma Creativity aims to combine the two powerful tools of Permaculture and non-formal education. The main objectives of this project are: - To promote a sustainable rural development through Permaculture. - To foster entrepreneurship and creativity in young people using non-formal education as an innovative and learner-centred approach. - To increase European learning opportunities in our local community in order to support young people’s European active citizenship. The exchange introduced young participants to the relationships and synergies among the disciplines that Permaculture connects in order to design environmentally sustainable gardens, farms, buildings and communities. We explored what these tools are and how to decide which to use and when. The learning journey has been enriched with practical workshops, discussions and works in groups, simulation games and daily evaluations according to the non-formal education methodology. Perma Creativity encouraged young participants in becoming “active leaders” in their local communities and to contribute to bring about a positive change at individual and collective level. The youth exchange took place in Italy in San Nicandro Garganico (Fg) from the the 18th to the 29th of June 2015 involving 24 young people from Italy, Slovenia, Greece and France
