Période de Formation en Entreprise en Europe
Start date: Jul 1, 2014, End date: Jun 30, 2015 PROJECT  FINISHED

Our project, "Work Placement in a Company in Europe" will allow the 10 students of the European Section Final year Tertiary Vocational Bac, and 5 students from CAP level 5 in one year, Hat-makers and dress-makers, to do a four-week-placement in a company in Europe. Our participants are students at Camille Claudel Vocational High school in Lyon. Situated in the center of Lyon, the high school mostly integrates students from disadvantaged suburban areas of the city, and very often from socially deprived families coming from European and internationnal varied origins . The European Section opened in 2002. It integrates the most motivated students of Vocational Bac Commerce, Reception and Services, who want to improve their skills in English. The chosen approach is Professionnal Communication and language reinforcement through oral practice. The experience of mobility is the essential motivation of the students who wish to practice their linguistic and professional skils in real work situations to be able later on, to integrate the labour market. The 5 students from the one year CAP level 5, Hat-makers and dress-makers, are young adults who have chosen to specialize in these creative fields after varied curricula. The school gives them the opportunity to do one of their two one-month work placement in a European country of their choice, usually chosing from our network of companies. Many experiences in Berlin, Munich, Nuremberg have already been conducted. The objectives of the mobility experience are: 1/ Acquiring professional knowledge and skills through integration into the workplace and through the practice of English or German language. Mobility will allow the students to finalize the school learning process and the skills developped in former placements in France. It will develop the participants' capacity of reflecting and exchanging through their adaptation to the workstation and to the economic, social and cultural environment of the chosen companies and cities. 2/ Developping interpersonal abilities and skills for Commerce , Reception and Services in which quality relations are needed. The experience of mobility will participate in developping these skills through the confrontation of experiences but also through the use of communication jobs specific tools (IT) when preparing, doing, evaluating or reporting the placement. Face to face reception, informing and guiding people will reinforce the relational abilities of the participants. Getting familiar with other ideas, with other professional and everyday cultures, but also with other tools and other ways of doing things builds open-minded, responsible citizens, who will fit in the European Area. 2bis/ Using different equipments, tools and techniques. The students from CAP hat-makers and dress-makers need to enlarge their knowledge and the range of their professional skills, discovering new styles, new professional and day to day cultures but also new tolls and new ways of working. Participating in the proces of creation and observing the way of working in the company, they improve their personal project. 3/ Giving value to the experience of mobility through certification. The experience of mobility is the result of a long preparation work but it also leads to the final oral exam of the European Section and it can reward the students with a specific "European mention" on the bac diploma. The evaluation of CAP hat-makers and Dress makers is also part of the evaluation for the CAP final exam. The students are placed in companies and work during the day. In Brighton they are given a few Converstional English lessons in an international school (EC Brighton) and they are accomodated in families. Cultural activities are organized at the week-ends to discover the city and the country. In Germany, or any other European country chosen by the CAP students, the participants work in companies. They organize their accomodation and social and cultural life in their new environment. Our project team's main task will be to contact, to formalize, and to ensure the continuing existence of the partnership with the companies. The students' training lasts three years for the European Section and just a few months for the CAP. The expected impact is a subsequent growth in self-confidence for using the English or German linguistic tools for professional or everyday life.
