„Perfekcjonista to ja – podnoszenie kwalifikacji zawodowych nauczycieli”
Start date: Dec 31, 2015, End date: Dec 30, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

We have decided to name our project: "Perfectionist is me - improving teachers' vocational qualifications. Zespół Szkół NR 6 im. Mikołaja Reja in Szczecin consists of basic vocational school, gastronomy/catering technical school and hotel technical school. The students at our school are very differentiated - from the ambitious ones, who wish to continue their education and go to university, to the low-motivated ones, who do not exhibit much knowledge and many skills. At the beginning and at the end of every school year we conduct placement tests to ensure the best teaching results. We also do that to make sure our students graduate from school with good qualifications and knowledge. It is important to know that the most essential activities of our school, apart from teaching, are: care and upbringing of our students, and cooperation with parents and local area (especially in vocational aspect). Therefore, we constantly attempt to develop and improve these activities. At our school we have students who are finalists or laureates of various humanities, sciences or vocational competitions. Some of our students attend school on Prime Minister's scholarship. What is more, there have been numerous cases of our students receiving an award for their educational achievements from the President of Szczecin. Despite the above mentioned positive image of our students, our school faces a problem of low motivation among the students and lack of willingness to participate in extra activities by them as only a small percentage of our students take part in competitions although they receive benefits out of them, for instance good marks. Therefore, we would like the project to support the school and its students' advantages, and, on the other hand, to support the teachers in their constant struggle to improve the weaker features, which have been identified. We would like our school to present progress of its activities, which would result in our graduates' higher level of skills and qualifications. We assume that, thanks to the project, the whole school community will benefit from a greater quality of teaching and learning process, and from fruitful international cooperation. We hope to improve language skills and general knowledge of our teachers as well as our students, which will bring benefits for the school thanks to having better-qualified workers and better results in final exams. We also assume that a use of the knowledge in next international projects and in school's activity in local area should be profitable for the whole school environment and its related community also thanks to closer inter-culture relations and greater pro-European awareness. The teachers' participation in the project will enable better quality and efficiency of education as well as an improvement of mutual cooperation between the teachers and their students, which will consequently influence better final examinations' results. The teachers will also make their lessons more attractive due to using new teaching techniques, which will result in a greater number of students participating classes. Motivating the students to learn, to participate in various competitions, inter-cultural and pro-European activities, international projects; supporting the students in gaining education and vocational qualifications and also in planning work career - these basic activities will be supported thanks to new qualifications and competences of the teachers and greater commitment and motivation to work. As a result, the school's graduates will be better qualified and more open and aware of the opportunities waiting for them in the European Union. In the project an emphasis has been put on developing language competences as far as English language is concerned. Due to close proximity of German border, it seems natural that German language is better-known and more often used by the students of our school. It has been stated that, because of the school's vocational specializations and English language's popularity across the world in international and inter-school relations, it is the English language that should be concentrated on to ensure the students' fluent communication in this language.
