Péče o seniory v Evropě - Elderly care in Europe
Start date: Oct 15, 2014, End date: Oct 14, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

The project Elderly care in Europe is focused on the initial professional training of the third-grade students of the secondary health medical school majoring in nursing and the second-grade students of the medical college – branches Diploma general nurse and Diploma nutrition therapist. Within the project, two-week specialized practical trainings in London were implemented. 27 students from our school participated. The main goal of the project was to extend and innovate professional training at our school through such experience abroad. By putting the project into practise, students were able to compare nursing and nutrition care in Great Britain and Slovakia with the Czech one. No less substantial aim was the support of foreign language qualification, possibility to check the ability to communicate in a foreign language and broadening the vocabulary in the field of professional medical English. Thanks to the multicultural enviroment, indisputably provided in the city of London, students also gained knowledge in the sphere of cultural and mental differences of foreign citizens and the development of their personal qualities (like independence, responsibility, tolerance) were also supported. Professional experience is the part of educational programmes of the above mentioned branches. Professional educational stays abroad were planned for the very same period when the other students took part in such working experience in the Czech Republic. After successful finishing of the practical training, students were given a Europass Mobility and the training were acknowledged as part of the compulsory practical training. The output of the project were specialist courses for students from the other grades focused on the comparison of experiences gained in the work places in London and in the Czech Republic, or, more precisely, oddities and differences in nursing and nutritional care in the United Kingdom. The mobility participants presented their conclusions and outputs from the project in form of presentations accompanied by photodocumentation. Results of and knowledge gained during the educational stay were presented in our school’s magazine, website and in the local press.
