Peace and harmony
Start date: Aug 1, 2014, End date: Dec 1, 2014 PROJECT  FINISHED

International Youth Exchange "Peace and harmony" is the first international event made by group of active youngsters from Tartu, Estonia. Project is dedicated to the global problem of urbanization and its following issues. As this problem concerns every country in Europe, we want to pay attention on it and show people environmental and social problems caused by growing population of the cities. The aim of youth exchange is to compare village life in different countries and show our participants and bigger public that village life has more advantages comparing to the city life. To make the project more interesting we chose photography as a tool of our exchange. Environment being universal will be the platform for promoting peace building and active citizenship. During the exchange we will share opinions, approaches, experience, and exchange information on urbanization and villagers in Europe to see the difference between northern and southern countries of Europe. The exchange is designed in the way that allows participants to get involved into it not just for actual exchange, but also on preparational and follow-up phase, which include hard but interesting tasks. We will ask our participants to get information about village life (how people are living, what they are doing etc.) and make photos of people living in villages in the harmony with nature, city life and issues caused by urbanization in their countries. Culmination of the project will be "Living in peace of nature" open photo exhibition made of photos taken by our participants which will take place in one of the biggest cities of Estonia. For the period from 23rd till 30th of August 2014, 30 participants and 6 leaders from 6 European countries will be living in Estonia united by one goal. Methodology of this exchange includes discussions, collecting and presenting information, organization and participation in live presentations and workshops, side visits, outdoor activities, cultural events, practical tasks. The impact of the exchange will be already seen during the event when participants will be thinking of problems caused by growing city population and the ways of solving or preventing it. Participants will gain basic skills in photo making and camera using through active participation in workshops made especially to impart them this knowledge. For future leaders this Youth exchange will give inspiration to make their own projects in the countrysides, not in the cities. Our photo exhibition will influence on people minds and will make them want to spend more time walking, living, enjoying and taking care of our beautiful nature.
