PEU – Path to European Union is a youth exchange that involves 24 youngsters from 4 countries and will be implemented in Buşteni, Romania in september 2014. The youth exchange is developed by a youth initiative group members of Youth Voice Romania, programme implemented in Romania by the Partners’ Foundation for Local Development and their peers from the other 3 states, aiming at involving youth of the age segment 16 to 23 from the European Union Member States and the candidate states in developing the European citizenship concept to a practical approach through the intercultural activities and workshops based on nonformal education methodologies. The exchange is developed within Erasmus + programme- Key Action 1 April 30 deadline. The objectives of PEU are centered on exploring the diversity of approaches on European citizenship within the youth group, identifying practical activities that youth could use to promote European Citizeship to their peers and empowering intercultural dialogue and intercultural communication within the youth group. PEU integrates concepts that are still perceived as being abstract by youth and explaining them in the manner so that they would be interesting to the participants. In a global context fully affected by the social and economic problems, concepts such as European identity, solidarity and the human rights and liberties are neglected. PEU aims at educating and informing youth in the 4 participants states on the existent problems and on empowering them to take action. If youth represents the future of Europe, then youth should be equipped with information regarding their rights and duties as European citizens.
