This project seeked to promote the active participation of young people in democratic life and to facilitate a discussion about the policies in the field of youth in the European framework, transversely incorporating gender mainstreaming. Some topics were addressed including: youth participation, youth policy, gender equality and equal opportunities. The ultimate goal was to promote the political participation of 30 young people aged 18 to 30 who participated in this project through three actions: School for Youth Empowerment: The purpose of the school of empowerment was in its own meaning, which was to empower, enable, or authorize, in this case, the youth participation in the project and to promote a process of social awareness, while acquiring tools for political incidence and socio-political participation... Youth Parliament: where the young people who had previously been empowered as decision makers worked on various proposals to influence European policies. These reforms were presented in groups in a youth parliament for debate and subsequent submission to European political representatives. Meeting with political representatives: MEPs from Asturias with whom we worked on the youth policies of the European Union, as well as on gender equality. They will submit the proposals discussed and approved in the Youth Parliament to the European Parliament. The methodology used in the project were always open, participatory and adaptable. The presentations worked as a basis for the development of workshops where youth participants, through dynamic actions, achieved the goals. In addition, there were weekly meetings and evaluations with the group promoter, so that the activities could be adapted and improved. This project not only had a great local impact but also will have, we hope, a regional impact and hopefully at an European level. For the participants it meant a great personal, educational and professional development. This project ultimately improved youth participation in European policies and other political lines, and planted roots for future projects of youth participation.
