Parenting in Europe in the 21st Century

The project partnership aims to improve the skill levels of those working in the parenting education and support sector (in addition to parents themselves) through sharing information amongst project partners with regard to VET. Project partners will assemble, distil and build upon European expertise and innovative approaches to working with parents to thus improve the analysis and anticipation of skill requirements in this rapidly growing sector and will disseminate the project results throughout the EU. The project will provide a forum for European expertise and for the dissemination of information on innovation in the area of VET and vocational guidance and proposes to improve access to continuing vocational training (CVT) for those working with parents. The project has four key outputs, namely, a project website (to share information and ideas and to disseminate the project results), a series of e-groups for project partners on topics identified at conferences held in the first two years of the project, the web-based publication of partner training curricula (to share information and move towards a common VET basis for employees in this sector and a European value base for those working with parents, based upon new and existing international instruments. In the longer-term, the project expects to contribute towards European standards in this area and to a coordinated training structure for EU-wide work with parents.
