Start date: Jul 1, 2014, End date: Jun 30, 2015 PROJECT  FINISHED

This project will involve students of Agricultural, Electrical and Mechanical Engineering classes who will be accompanied by 2 teachers. The theme is floricultural farming as well as packaging and marketing. Farming is a very interesting subject for the students of agriculture sector whilst the students of electrical and mechanical engineering will focus on packaging and marketing. In Cyprus, nowadays, Agriculture which is a primary sector is unfortunately the “great patient” of our economy because it contributes very little in it since floricultural imports are greater than exports. The target of this project is to find ways to product new floricultural products so Cyprus will not be forced to import from other countries. The place we are going to visit in Athens has a lot of floricultural farming. We selected the specific area because unfortunately in Cyprus students do not have the chance to visit such units. As another criterion for the selection of this area is the fact that we use the same language. The students will visit Attica and especially the area of Marathon. In this area there are a lot of floricultural units and enterprises that are operated in the floricultural sector which is a sector who interests us. Our teachers have a lot of experience in carrying out such a program since they have implemented similar programs in the past like Leonardo Da Vinci and Comenius. The conduct of this program includes theory and practice. Theoretical part will be based on problem solving method adopted by our school whilst practical part will be performed with the involvement of students on study design and construction. The targets of the program are: To make students willing to work with people from another EU country without prejudices and discriminatory barriers. To recognize the importance of new technology in agricultural production. To promote research and innovation. To learn the role of the school in the local community and how this relates to the development and preservation of cultural heritage. To meet professional and educational outlets in the new European context. To know more about the educational system of Greece Benefits for the participants: We hope that a great benefit is to meet the educational and professional needs of the beneficiaries. They will learn new production techniques like floricultural farming, packaging and marketing of local floricultural products. They will also learn the role of technological developments in the progress and efficiency of the agricultural sector. Moreover, a benefit is to improve their skills and abilities in handling information. Students will join a demanding program adapted to their capacities mobilizing knowledge and skills to meet their needs. They will work to achieve short-term objectives and will work on objects of educational and professional interests. The mobility is scheduled to be held from February 15 to March 1, 2015 . These dates may change depending on the educational needs in order not to disrupt the orderly operation of the school.
