Παράδοση και φήμη. Ευρωπαϊκή τεχνογνωσία για την επαγγελματική τους αξιοποίηση. Τradition and brand name. European κnowhow for professional use.
Start date: Aug 1, 2014, End date: Jul 31, 2015 PROJECT  FINISHED

The particular project aims at offering professional training to two individual groups – each one consisting of 10 students and 2 teachers – in the area of Aquitaine in France. The members of the groups come from the two distinct sectors of Economics and Agriculture, operating at the 2nd Technical/Vocational School in Amaliada. Both the areas of Northern Ileia, where the school is situated, and Bordeaux in Aquitaine, the locus of placement, present a number of similarities regarding agricultural production, cultural heritage and tourist development. However, there is one significant difference that should be stressed; in French territory there is appropriate and systematic exploitation of resources, whereas in the respective Greek territory the exploitation of such resources is undervalued or practically non-existent. Consequently, work positions are compromised, there is social and work exclusion especially in the case of young people and an increase in migration rates is also observed. Spending two weeks in a multicultural, European environment and training in a real work environment will provide the students of our school with insight on the way a business (they will establish or work in) can reclaim on the assets of the area: the agricultural produce, some of which are known nationally as well as worldwide (watermelons and potatoes from Amaliada, strawberries from Manolada, virgin olive oil from Ileia) the cultural heritage of the area around Ancient Ilida (the city that organised the Ancient Olympic Games) as well as the archeological sites of Ancient Olympia and Apollo Epicurius the prospects for tourist development taking into account the beauty of the nature, excellent weather conditions and the extended coastline with numerous beaches. The students in the fields of Economics and Management as well as Agriculture are already equipped with a relevant theoretical background, but they are not capable of implementing the knowledge they have acquired since the national curriculum does not cater for their training. By means of this project they will manage to acquire and transfer the expertise on how to reclaim on a powerful 'brand name' and create a 'myth' based on high-quality production and appropriate marketing. The renowned wines of Bordeaux and their commercial exploitation, not to mention the fact that an entire area of 150,000 residents has been declared a cultural monument, signify the ideal locus for the realization of our students' training. The proposed mobility project, besides primarily fulfilling the educational needs of the participants, includes a plethora of additional goals, such as the enhancement of the participants' self-confidence (many of them will be leaving their familiar surroundings for the first time), their sense of responsibility (they will have to fulfil specific duties and take initiative) and their intercultural skills through the contact with other individuals from another European member-state, France, with unique multicultural features. The specific project also entails attending seminars regarding the historical, political, cultural, social and economic background of the country, which constitutes an additional asset. Furthermore, both teachers and students participating in the programme will have the opportunity to experience novel educational practices and teaching methods on vocational training. The mobility actions will take place from October 2014 to May 2015 in Aquitaine, France. The 2nd Technical/Vocational School in Amaliada has the knowledge and the means to diffuse the results of this project to a local and broader social environment through its confidence on sustainability and extroversion. The prize for a “Sustainable School” awarded in 2013 to the students and the teachers of the 2nd Technical/Vocational School in Amaliada guarantees the exploitation and diffusion of the outcome.
