Outdoor, an open door!
Start date: May 1, 2015, End date: Nov 30, 2015 PROJECT  FINISHED

The main objective of the project "Outdoor, an open door" was to raise awareness and a sense of civic responsibility among young people. This was achieved through the support of youngsters: their social commitment, confidence and teamwork skills. Methods we chose and used for its implementation were derived from non-formal education, including in particular activities of "outdoor education" - working in groups, plays, discussions, techniques of creative thinking, simulations and intercultural educational activities . Thanks to this, we were able to look at the environment around us from a bit from the outside - that strengthened us in creating educational activities aimed at tackling problems identified in local communities. The project lasted 10 days and took place in the Polish nature reserve Załęcze Wielkie, and then in Lodz. It brought together 25 young, motivated, young people sensitive to social issues. Youngsters were from Poland, Romania, Slovenia, Italy and Slovakia. The result of our work - exercises, games, discussions and reflections of the environment around us is a concrete impact on the urban space (in Lodz, but also each of the partner cities in the project). Participants first identified problems, which see in their environment, then created and tested educational ideas on how to counteract them. All these has been included in the brochure that consists of educational tools created within the project. We believe that the youth exchange was an important step in the process of making sense of civic responsibility of young people participating in it who, after returning home, shared their knowledge and experience gained during the exchange. Since for some of them it was first such an experience, they joined in various civic action in their local communities.
