Outdoor Activities for Social Inclusion

The youth exchange will involve 25 participants from 4 countries from EU, Italy and Estonia and Eastern Partner Countries such as Armenia and Moldova during 10 days.The project aims to promote active citizenship, social inclusion of disadvantaged youth, environmental awareness and involvement of youngsters in different actions and reflections related to the use of natural resources in our planet, the impact of human presence and Millennium Developement Goals.The project will take place in Gela a town on the southern coast of Sicily, in a small natural reserve called “Biviere di Gela” (www.riservabiviere.it) and in co-operation with its managing body: the Italian League for Birds Protection (LIPU).During the whole action, several activities strongly related to environmental awareness will be developed to promote socialization and integration and to foster feeling of ownership of the global environmental problem. Some workshops and practical activities will be organized on “how to contrast industrial development and implantation of very high impact industries and agriculture today for tomorrow" fostering small and individual awareness and undertake concrete actions.In order to foster full involvement of participants in the YE activities since its preparation phase, each partner will prepare a workshop in their countries on the issue, with concrete examples to be represented in a creative way.The youth exchange will also involve youngsters from disadvantaged backgrounds.Participants are expected to take part in some days of activities inside the natural reserve such as painting birdwatching houses or wooden signals or clean the area from dry grass in order to prevent fires.
