Our differences, our similarities
Start date: Jun 1, 2015, End date: May 31, 2017 PROJECT  FINISHED

The project "Our differences, our similarities" focusses predominantly on European core values. It comprises both intercultural diversity and its benfits concerning language acquisition and teaching techniques. The main areas the project is concerned with are (1) intercultural learning, (2) coping with heterogeneity, and (3) initiating contacts between schools from different European countries. These three aspects were the results of the last external evaluation conducted by the quality agency (ISB). Moreover, we hope for international contacts which can be used for e-twinning or initiating exchange programmes as well as for future "P- and W-Seminars"-projects in our A-Level courses (year 11/12). Among the nine participants are members of the school's quality management team, the heads of the French, Spanish and History departments and the organisers of our exchange programmes with the USA and France. We aim for courses and structured study visits in order to compare different European educational systems and evaluate their respective advantages . Furthermore, we would like to gain new ideas in teaching and learning. Initially, the project was presented in a staff meeting, then each participant had to write a short essay and we also were prepared by various courses dealing with this topic ( e.g. SchiLF "Erasmus+" /07.01.15, RLFB "Individuelle Lernförderung mit Mebis"/11.3.15). In the long run, we hope for an implementation of the above mentioned targets, an initiation of exchange programmes for pupils. Furthermore, it would be a personal benefit for all participants to gain new insights from the intercultural encounters, which can be an asset for their authentic language teaching in class. Mutual supervising is meant to be a device for monitoring the teachers' skills. In addition, these competences will be evaluated and passed on to the whole staff. In June 2017, there will be an internal evaluation dealing with individual learner strategies and heterogeneity as well as intercutural learning; "haekchen.at" will be used as a device to develop questionnaires for teachers, students and parents to receive precise feedback in all topics. The concept which is worked out due to the courses' results is a crucial part in the realisation of our school's targets. Above, it will be part of our future quality concept. So these points should be improved for the next external evaluation in four years.
