Ortak Mirasımız: Geleneksel Kıyafetler
Start date: Nov 7, 2014, End date: May 6, 2015 PROJECT  FINISHED

We are planning to carry out our project with six participant countries in Eskisehir between 7-15 September 2014. The participant countries of the project are the Albania, Bulgaria, Georgia, Italy, Poland and Turkey. The project is going to gather total 30 participants from each country that is between 18-25 years old. Each country is going to be represented by 5 participants meanwhile. In this project, the clothes have been selected as a common heritage issue. This issue that has been selected will give a chance to investigate the traditional wear culture in detail which may indicate significant differences in culture from the past to nowadays. Since the clothing issue has been showing remarkable differences between not only regions but also places in the same country in process of time, this project will give a chance to display both clothing culture and the importance of this culture at the same time. The issue of clothes is as ancient as the humanity history. This is because, it is only human being who is born as naked and get dressed later. The development in clothing traditions has led the emergence of some trends called as aesthetics and fashion in time. Also, these trends have also influenced the clothing preferences of different societies in accordance with the facts of climate conditions, religious beliefs, cultural differences, pleasures even economic circumstances and social values. For instance, communities which generally occupy with agriculture and stockbreeding have much more authentic clothes. It is also aimed to introduce differentiating cultural elements among societies because of this reason. While the casual clothes that we put on in our daily lives are so ignored and pacified, the people in popular culture, on the other hand, see the fashion as one of the tools which may help them to better introduce themselves and to better communicate to someone else. Therefore, the fashion in popular culture in a sense shapes identities and views of the individual through a specific pattern. As a result, visuality of the identity is further coming into prominence. In the project, the issue of traditional clothes is going to be analyzed in detail and some workshops are also going to be realized together with the participant countries on behalf of raising awareness about the traditional clothes. We aim to comprehend the comparative ideas of participant countries about the traditional clothes of each others and in this manner; we also intend to reach a common Europeanness idea during this project by ensuring integration between them. We will get the young participants of the project aware to let them mutually recognize the cultural elements of each other by organizing related activities. We here aim to gather them to pave the way of those young people learn something about different cultural attitudes to get the harmony of differences. We will make an activity with the name of ‘'Traditional Cultural'' that is the main theme of the project. We will organize a symposium with the participation of our academician lecturers about the issue of traditional wears as well. In this symposium, we are planning to discuss the topic of the wear as a common heritage. In the workshops that we are planning to carry out during the project, we are going to evaluate the various reasons in detail such as geography, culture, political turbulences, social conditions etc which have affected and shaped the wear styles of different civilizations on the earth, existed from past to nowadays. Together with the participants of the project, we are also planning to experience with the clothes sewing job (for children clothes, male and female clothes) which will last five days under different themes and topics. Also, with the clothes that will be provided from the ‘'Collective Work Center'' of the Municipality, we will learn how to fix and make them usable if damaged or needed to be made better. Within the context of this project, fabrics provided with our participants will be redesigned in the sense of reflecting various clothes themes. And, these clothes designed will be exhibited in a fashion show.
