The project named ORGANIZED NONFORMAL EDUCATION IN CRISIS? offers an insight into the system of non-formal education in Portugal. The participants recruit from youth workers from institutions providing interest-based education and lecturers of professional leisure-time activities. They are enabled to participate in such activities in Portugal, to learn about new teaching methods, forms of education and means of non-formal education and to mutually exchange their best practices. Participation in this internship is a part of plan for further development and education of youth workers; thus, it presents an important element of HR strategy of the organization. International internship or working experience in education institutions contributes to professional growth and higher qualification of the workers. Broadening perspectives motivates one for further work, innovation in performed tasks and for information sharing with colleagues that often come from remote parts of our country. Different working conditions and style of work abroad leads to exploring new ideas, thinking, comparing and assessing. To enable the workers to study educational and other documents means to provide them with subjects they can use in creating educational programmes and the long-term concept of development of school institutions of interest-based education. Diversity of organizations that hosts the interns (city council, trade union organization, state office) ensures sufficient insight into the issues of leisure-time activities of Portuguese children and youth and particularly on life-time education of local youth workers. Portugal is a small country with a language that nobody in Europe speaks; like the Czech Republic, it also struggles with isolation, inactivity, low self-esteem, tight budget and ignorance. By carrying out our project, we want to overcome these constraints – at least on the level of participating organizations. The content of our project was a commun 7 days mobility of 14 workers from institutions providing interest-based education to the partner organisation CLUBE INTERCULTURAL EUROPEU from Lisbon, Capital of Portugal. The participants participated during the mobility in the regular direct activities with the children and youth, but also they visited and discussed with the employes of many other institutions (Instituto portugues da juventude e do desporte, institutions of the local administration, schools, cultural organisations, trade unions) with whom the CLUBE is used to cooperate.
